DRS 'Compass' pair 37608 and 37259 spent today working the 1Q84 NR test train about the SWT network. However, a more rare destination for any loco, let alone DRS Carlisle based 37's is Chessington South where they are photographed! :) Ta to Craig Stretten for help and likewise Tony from FMI for some last minute timings! (Seemed to be a ghost train beforehand!)...

Thanks to Freightliner & Jez for the first tour of the year around the yard, sadly while 70006 was just missed by 5mins, 70002 was on site as was a host of 66's in the north end of the yard. As usual several 86's dominated the scene including grey 86637 and 90042 represented the class 90 fleet. DRS 37688/603/229 were also viewed across the road at the 'Blue Teams' depot...

Dull weather perhaps but a few treats in store. DRS 'Compass' 37409 looking (and sounding) great! A quality overhaul by HNRC for DRS. 47375 rubbed down for a repaint. BR Blue 31's and 20's, NR 97's, Grey 20's and a few other bits missed last week...certainly a different scene compared to last weeks snow scenes!...

Railfreight Red Stripe 37152, Regional Railways 31270, black 37188, Large Logo Blue 47635 and a pair of 50's being highlights as well as a few other locos...

Fastline 66301, 66302, 66303 all stabled together, 66305 later arriving with a coal train to stable up...

A quick visit to Barrow Hill, got some of the traction on site however not all as by then a blizzard moved in making photography difficult and the cold just too much. Still some nice snow photos of 56101, Peaks, 37's and a few other bits. Shall visit again in a week or two to get the rest of the traction on site...

Just goes to show you find them without chasing them! A booked tour to Basford Hall produced newbies 70002 and 70005. Bardon Blue celeb 66623, seven class 86's including Freightliner Grey 86622, one sole Freightiner class 90 and several of Freightliners fleet of 66 locomotives. On a sunny but frostly -5C frosty morning! Once again a big thanksto Jez & Freightliner for the visit to the yard :)

Tribute to the class 37's, featuring near enough EVERY class 37 still in existance and some which now are just memories. Through EWS days and beyond with HNRC, Preservation, WCRC and DRS. Many locomotives appearing in several guises. Loadhaul, Royal Scotsman, DRS (old & new style) Transrail, Sectors, Railfreight, Large Logo, Regional Railways, Intercity, BR blue, Mainline Grey/Blue, Network Rail, GW Green, HNRC and more...

DRS 47802 and 47832 visited London Kings Cross today on a DRS special from Morpeth carrying The Morpeth Darts team! Along with others. Managed a few arty photos of the train today in luckily light weather...

Second attempt for this! In some sun for a change, and also stopping for a good while DRS 'Compass' pair, 37611 leading 37059, arrived at Richmond of all places today on the 1Q91 test train running 57 late! That said, nice sight, while the likes of 73's and 66's are common enough here, DRS 37's are somewhat rare visitors...

Makes a nice change to get DRS 37's in London rather than having ro waddle up to Carlisle to get them! Both in the new DRS 'Compass' scheme 37059 leads 37611 on 1Q14 Derby RTC - Ashford at Clapham.

Of note is with darker afternoons and in such weather photography becomes a lot harder! Bring on crisp, cold but sunny winter days...

Most unusal, and never to happen again, is that of GBRF's newly leased 66844, a somewhat 'ghost' loco in Advenza livery and renumbered (former DRS 66409) for use with the long gone bust company 'Ghost' Advenza Freight. GBRF soon to rebrand/renumber the loco for their use. Even more rare was it was found at Waterloo of all places along with Green 31190 on the Buffer Puffer 8 railtour around London, whatever next...

RHTT galore with 37603 with 37038 on 3S10, and 66432 with 66425 on 3J06. 57313 on the logs, 'Stobart' 66414 on 4S43, Freightliner grey 86637 with 86638 on a intermodal, several Freightliner coals, the 'Flying Banana' and more...

Well, late evening not night at Kensington Olympia. Today saw the first of two days worth of a GBRF charter run for charity, seen with newly repainted GBRF 'Barbie' 73213 leading the 'Thumper' with NR Yellow 73212 tailing, the latter due for a repaint to math 73213 in due time. This tour was to be the best weather wise, and not ill fated like Sundays train...

The first DRS RHTT run with 66432/425, DRS 'Compass' 37194 out again, ATW 57, Freightliner 86's and the usual mix of Freightliner and DBS 66's on coal. Going back Tues 13th for both RHTT's in full swing, and some nice weather for better photos! :)

DRS sent 37510 in its DRS 'Compass' guise to the event, a 'proper' DRS 37 in that livery far too tempting! Sunny weather all day, the 37 working extremely well, as was the MNR's home fleet, such as Intercity 73210, Large Logo 50019 and the many others at the line... (no excuse for number of 37510 shots, but a rare one to get down south!)

Very busy overall from Friday morning at 10:45am till 1:00am then from 6:30am untill 15:49 on Saturday. Plenty of DRS traction class 37, 47 and 66 wise, 66414 in Stobart and recently painted 'Compass' 37688 and 37194 being highlights, several 47's from WCRC, RT and DRS about, Freightliner 66's on coal, Freightliner 86's on intermodal, DBS 92's on wagonload freight, GBRF coal and more...

Large Logo Blue 56086 out having been repainted and returned to use. Railfright Large Logo 56040 also out, Coal 31130 hiding as 31276, then the lines residents of 73114, 33019, 25067 and 47640 out to play and more, all in the sun!

Thanks to Freightliner, and to Jez for the visit to Bashford Hall yard, busy as always, many a class 66, 86 and 90 on site, Freightliner Grey 86637 making an appearance, and 66591 putting a long saga to bed, more also here...

A look at six former Ferrybridge 56's, three being Loadhaul examples! Also a look at three former OC resdidents which weren't around on my previous visit. Convoys galore at Crewe station, Freightliner 86'sand 90's featuring, EWS 60022 on a L/E move with 66's and more...

ETF liveried 58036 DIT in 6M44 off to Froggie land, Hanson traction 56312 with 56311 working 4Z91, GBRF 66710 on an engineers and WCRC 37706 also present in the early afternoon...

WCRC 37516 and 33207 made an appearance at London Marylebone today on a charter, with thankfully nice weather. This is believed to be the first visit of a 37/5 'refurb' to the terminal in several years, and likewise the 33 proving to be a rare visitor to the terminal...

DRS 'compass' 57012 and 57003, for the second week running, but still rare to see DRS 57's working the Dungeness - Willesden flasks, load 3 this time. Colas 47739 with 47727 on 6Z48 while WCRC 37706 and EWS 66248 were also noted...

Highlights being Large Logo Blue 56101 and Railfreight Large Logo 56098, throw in 56006, some Westerns and Deltics, DRS traction in the form of 37's, 57's and 66's on show, Fastline and Advenza 66's, NR 97's, 37372 with it's new engine and more, all in sunny weather...

Proof that you can get all the Fastline 66's in one day, having visited Barrow Hill (Where 66305 the only one I had originally was on display) to Chaddesden Yard to find 66302, 66303 and 66715, just driving to the station and saw 66304 arriving to the yard so back again, then reach the station to see 66301's train vanish round out of view, so back, a third time to the yard. So the lot in the space of a few hours!

Another great years gala with a large variety of traction on display, DRS 20's, several 37's, 47's 57's and 66's, including the three celeb examples all on display and shunting about, and thankfully all under 'Californian skies' ...

Having arrived at Carlisle in the evening some time spent at the station and an attempt at night photography, and also some of the stuff about the next afternoon... DRS 66's on modals and several 57's about and more...

More 58's in 6M44 Eastleigh - Wembley. This time with a difference! 58005 in the train was in a completely different guise EFT Freight while 58026 wears TSO livery, traction was by 66050 and the train once again at Clapham...

Loadhaul 60059 working the 6M34 Crawley - Peak Forest in nice sunny weather and EWS 66105 on an engineers...

DRS traction for 6M95 this week being 20304 and 37069 a tad late and with four flasks again, Colas 47739 on 6Z48 and EWS 66009 on a UID stone train...

Another good, though wet, event at Long Marston, featuring Virgin & Anglia 86's, 86260 in the new Electric Traction livery and 86247 in Europheonix livery and looking a tad different! Several 87's on show, Loadhaul 50135, Large Logo 50026, 73138 and 47580, GBRF 66, NSE 86401, Stored 31s and 37's and more...

DRS 37038 and 37229 (shame the latter wasn't leading) on a good rake of four flasks! Also noted was Colas 47727 Rebecca working with 47749 on what was around load 20 on 6Z48...

An OK day, 66142 with 66030 DIT taking another TSO 58007 and 58011 as a convoy without any consist (so not 6M44 but in it's path!) though Clapham. Annoyingly the old rechargables decided to die when a 3/4 shot of 58011 was available so they've gone to the bin in the sky and been replaced...sods law, better luck for another convoy soon...

EW&S 37418, Railfreight Large Logo 37901 and BR Blue 37109 out to play on the ELR's class 37 day. Good weather for the day as well, strange goings on too...a Tiger driving a train and people wearing traffic cones! Finally an old friend at Manchester Piccadilly, arty shots here too...

In great sunny weather a fabulous open event with Loadhaul 50135, WCRC 37516 and 37706, DRS 37's, EWS 37422 and 37411, Several DRS 20's, several 33's, 47's, 59's and 73's on dislay in several guises and appearances from 55022, D1015, 45060 and others, a great event and more here...

Most things happened in twos today, DRS 37688 with 37087 on 6M95, 6Z48 had 47739 and 47749 in charge, a VSOE with 67002 and 67003 as well. Only single workings were 92017 and 66144, not bad weather today!

Freightliner traction being the host with no less than eight 86's on site including Freightliner Grey 86622, a few 90's and obviously Freightliner 66's either on or waiting for their next workings...

A nice mix here with 18 Fertis 56's, stored EWS 37426, RT 47805; 47815; 47848 and 47839, EWS 67001, Demics 56077 and 58022

General bits at Crewe, plenty of AC Traction, classes 08, 37, 47, 86, 87 and 90 in a variety of different guises...

DRS supported the event by sending the 'Compass' fleet of 37682, 20314, 57003 and 66413. 87035, 47475 and another 47. Fastline 66305 on Gresty Bridge with 66421 and 90019 on the sleepers!

DRS 37610 leading 37609 working 6M95 running 10 late passing at 17:17, Colas 47749 working a steel train, a pair of 67's and a 66 thrown in for good measure...

Not quite as planned due to the good old class 56 convoy from OC-Crewe DMD running very late as one could guess (I'll get the buggers over the weekend!) Anyway Acton had DB liveried 59206, 66027 and 67006 T&T engineers wagons, another 59 and a few bits here...

With the depot being cleared out and due for demolition, some photos from the depots past from 2005 right up to December 2008. Sheds full of 31's, 37's, 47's, 50's, 52's, 56's, 58's, 66's, 67's, shunters and even a class 40 and steamer, all in a host of different liveries and stages of maintence, at the depot, throughout the site, so memories of the better times of what was London's finest depot...

Once again 'The bombs' running early! DRS 37668 leading 37087 this Thursday, while Colas Rail 47739 was also out working the Dollands Moor bound steel service

Lighter nights mean that the 6M95 Dungeness - Willesden Nuclear Flasks can now be photographed in the 'London end' running 20mins early today DRS 37609 and 20309 provided power for the train.

Yes...Back again...With very good reason. BOTH DB 66152 and 59206 out and about, Mainline Blue 60011 on 7M20, EWS 60096 on 6L26, GBRF 66731 out of Acton Yard! With the depot closing after several years of service, one final look at the depot before it's closure in literally a few days, before the locos and stock find new homes, likely to be Eastleigh. A visit to Acton Mainline station today to catch up on the 'local stuff' which will be the focus this winter. Off to a good start with the newly liveried 59001 and 59005, EWS 60's in attendence (and at one point t&t a stone train) Freightliner 66's, EWS's 59 and 66 fleet all making appearances and more on a nice sunny day...

Cotswold Rail 47828 and 47810 visited London Kings Cross on a Christmas shopping special, and former 'ONE' 47818 was provided to take out the ECS for the train. Also featured is a EWS 67 and some 'arty' photos...

On the return from an Alton Towers holiday, a very quick stop at Bescot, with a pair a EWS 08, a EuroCargo 66, and stored EWS 37's, sadly Bescot remains unphotogenic, so the attempts were the best that could be gained...

Royal Scotsman Maroon 37401 brought back to use due to a very dead 37406 not able to work the tour. Personally 37401 being much better! paired with EWS 37410, tour seen at London Victoria and Clapham, in sunny weather and on time!!!

Title says it all, 13 EWS 37's in liveries from EWS, Loadhaul, Grey, Intercity and Metals, 12 former EWS 47's in a mix of liveries, some now saved some not. Also 15 EWS 56's in almost every livery that the class 56 has carried! Everything was easy to photograph, and great weather, and since some loco shunting a chance to get some good pics of Britians Best amd a lot more!!!

Vanishing being appropriate for DRS 37602 and 37607 on the SERCO, a failed attempt on Tuesday but got them this time. However the stage of the working cant be identified. The train after this "vanished" no show at Waterloo so where it went is unknown - like on Tuesday. Fastline 56303 on the Birch Coppice - Grain, 66083 on steel and various others...

A 15min stop at Bescot was ok, with some shunters and Freightliner traction and some refurbished 150's. Also EWS 37707 having moved. Only 92017 at Stafford on a 10min visit...
